The chips developed by AMD are enhancing bandwidth and connectivity globally. American Telegraph and Telephone Company (AT&T) -- Formerly known as the American Telephone and Telegraph Company and founded in 1885, AT&T is one of the world's largest telecommunications companies. It was split into three "divisions" in 1995: AT&T for communications; Lucent Technologies to provide communications systems and technologies; and NCR Corporation to concentrate on transaction-intensive computing. Cyrix -- Cyrix is best known for their MediaGX processor, the first PC under $1,000. The technology developed for the M II, 6x86MX and the MediaGX processors and system-level innovation has been crucial in the advancements of this field. Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC) -- Now known as DIGITAL after merging with Compaq, Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC) has had a long history of technology leadership. Since their inception in 1960, DEC has played a crucial role in the development of high performance computing platforms. Starting with the PDP-1, the world's first small, interactive computer, and continuing through today's latest Alpha systems, DEC has been, and continues to be an industry leader. Fairchild Integrated Circuits -- Fairchild is a leading supplier of high performance semiconductors for telecommunications, consumer electronics, personal computers, digital video, and automotive markets. Fujitsu -- Fujitsu Ltd. invests $3 billion annually in research and development, resulting in a large variety of products including high performance hard disk drives, tape drives, magneto-optical drives, high performance scanners and printers. The company is one of Japan's largest computer manufacturers and is a leading supplier of telecommunications systems and semiconductors. Hewlett Packard -- Hewlett-Packard Company designs, manufactures and services electronic products and systems for measurement, computing and communication. Some of the 25,000 products provided by HP include computers and peripheral products, electronic test and measurement instruments and systems, networking products, medical electronic equipment, instruments and systems for chemical analysis, handheld calculators and electronic components. IBM -- IBM Blue Logic technology adapts their products and services, like the silicon and interconnect capabilities, and individualizes them to fit the different design and manufacturing needs of their customers. Inmos Integrated Circuits -- Inmos merged with STMicroelectronics several years ago, but the company was a very innovative producer of integrated circuits and microprocessors. Famous for its transputers, Inmos will forever hold a place in the history of microelectronics and integrated circuits. Integrated Device Technology (IDT) -- In 1980, IDT was founded to design, manufacture and market industry standard integrated circuits (ICs). They have now provide innovative semiconductor solutions to the designers in communications and computing. Intel -- In 1971, Intel developed their first microprocessor, the 4004. Since then, Intel has incorporated Intel MMX Technology into the Pentium ® II Processor whose capabilities extend the functions over the Internet and phone lines. MIPS -- MIPS Technologies Inc., a subsidiary of Silicon Graphics, Inc., designs and licenses high-performance, cost-effective RISC microprocessors and related intellectual property for the digital consumer and embedded markets. MIPS designs are licensed to leading semiconductor suppliers for use in products ranging from video game systems to set-top boxes and handheld computing devices. Motorola -- As the world's #1 producer of embedded processors, Motorola's Semiconductor Products sector offers multiple DigitalDNA solutions which enable its customers to create new business opportunities provide them with high-volume and unique discrete, analog and digital semiconductors that are used in virtually every type of electronic equipment.
