Darkfield Microscopy Image GalleryMink FurThe mink is a semi-aquatic carnivorous mammal related to the weasel. Widely bred on farms for its thick rich brown fur, the mink is native to North America and Europe. The photomicrograph above illustrates a sampling of mink fur as seen with darkfield illumination. Varying thicknesses of individual hairs are evident in the photomicrograph, which also reveals the different textures characteristic of this fur. Questions or comments?
