Water mites belong to the arachnid suborder Hydracarina and have a worldwide distribution. They live in all types of freshwater bodies, tree holes, hot springs, deep lakes, and torrential waterfalls. A few species even live in oceans. The water mite is very small and has leg hairs that help the mite propel itself through the water. Questions or comments? Send us an email.© 1995-2022 by Michael W.
