Perspectives in Biology and MedicinePerspectives was founded in 1957 with the explicit purpose of counteracting the influence of rapidly advancing specialization in the biological and medical sciences. The journal publishes thoughtful essays that place medical and biological issues in a broader humanistic, social, and scientific context; it does not publish research reports or standard scientific reviews. Perspectives has been greeted with enthusiasm by its many readers, who have appreciated its lively and informative essays, and who take pleasure in the richness and diversity of the life sciences.
