Resistor Color Code

Composition resistors are color coded to indicate resistance values or ratings. The color code consists of various color bands, which indicate the resistance values of resistors in ohms as well as the tolerance rating.

  • Click on the slider to change resistance value.
  • Click on the arrows to change indicated band values.

Notice how the simulated flow of current decreases as resistance increases. Learn more about resistance and how resistor color coding works at our Resistance Tutorial.
