We discovered this touch-tone telephone stationed within the pad ring of an Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) integrated circuit labeled "9430F SLMUS 20% shrink", which is an ISDN chip that is still in use today as AMD part number AM79c30. Perhaps the phone is necessary to the function of the ISDN circuitry, but we think it was placed on the chip for the convenience of the Texicans, who are also housed on this chip.
