Saquinavir (Invirase)

Saquinavir anti-retroviral drug that acts as a protease inhibitor and is effective in combating HIV replication in patients afflicted with AIDS. Drugs of this type disrupt the production of protein products necessary to produce HIV virions, thus dramatically reducing the number of infectious particles in the body. Side effects include nausea and abdominal pain.
