Nikki, the Chow Chow

Nikki, the Chow Chow

This wireframe rendition of Nikki, the Chow Chow dog, was found on the Silicon Graphics MIPS R4000 microprocessor. Former MIPS engineer Larry Johnson told us that this creature was actually drawn to resemble his pet dog Nikki, who has unfortunately passed away. Larry tells us that he was in a hurry to get the design into tapeout when he built the wireframe, so it doesn't resemble Nikki as closely as he would like. We will admit that when we first discovered this character, we weren't quite sure whether it was a bear, dog, or possibly even a pig. We are glad Larry cleared this up for us.
