Dumbo: World's Smallest Elephant

Dumbo: World's Smallest Elephant

This miniature rendition of a silicon elephant appears on an integrated circuit resembling an EPROM derived from a fab in the former East Germany. The chip was loaned to us by Marcus Jacob of the Precision Engineering Division of the University of Applied Sciences, in Jena. Although the significance of the elephant escapes us, it may have been placed on the chip to remind us that, like an EPROM, an elephant never forgets.
