The Anchor Jet

The Anchor Jet

We caught this tiny (10 microns in length) silicon jet trying to take off from a SGS-Thomson integrated circuit. This is the same chip that houses the USS Silicon Seawolf submarine.

This photomicrograph was derived from a chip housed in the Smithsonian Institution integrated circuit collection (Sequent computer - catalog number: 1997.0330.018A).
