Simvastatin is a cholesterol-lowering agent that has been demonstrated to reduce both normal and elevated low-density lipoprotein cholesterol concentrations. In people with both high cholesterol levels and heart disease, simvastatin has been effective in reducing the risk of heart attack and deter the need for bypass surgery and angioplasty. Side effects include abdominal pain and headache. |
