Sulfamethoxazole and Trimethoprim (Bactrim)

Bactrim is an antibiotic cocktail containing the powerful antibiotics sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim. This combination is used to treat infections such as bronchitis, middle ear infection, urinary tract infection, and traveler's diarrhea. The cocktail is also used for prevention and treatment of Pneumocystis carinii pneumonia (PCP). Side effects include nausea, vomiting, anorexia, and allergic skin reactions.
