Where's MicroWaldo? Look closely at the surface of a microchip, and you might find Daffy Duck or Groucho Marx grinning back at you. Many designers sign their creations by hiding tiny images amid a chip's maze of circuits. Armed with a high-power microscope, Michael W. Davidson of Florida State University hunts for these artifacts and displays his trophies on his Silicon Zoo Web site. He has found cartoon characters, critters of various kinds, one designer's wedding announcement, and even Waldoall etched in silicon. |
