Did you ever wonder what computer design engineers do with all that chip real estate (and free time ;-))? An article in today's Chicago Tribune pointed to the following site:
What a fascinating collection of micro-photographs taken of artwork tucked away in unused portions of computer chips! Many of the items are no larger than 100 microns (millionths of a meter) and include animals, boats, trains, cartoons, Waldo!, logos, dinasaurs, and even a memorial and a wedding announcement. You just can't suppress art. What a wonderful glimpse of the human side of engineers!
