Let's go to the Zoo
Did you know there are all sorts of doodles and creatures hiding amongst your silicon? I know I had no idea about this until recently, and was really pleased to find the Silicon Zoo (http://www.microscopy.fsu.edu/creatures/index.html). A collection of microscopic images of actual etchings on computer chips, you'll find all sorts of neat pictures here. For example, on the PowerPC 750 chips you'll find a picture of Excalibur, about 300 microns in size. Or how about the toughest Waldo in the world to find--about 30 microns in size, hiding among the caches and buses of some circuitry.
