Molecular Expressions is primarily a huge gallery of excellent on-line color photomicrographs of various substances and materials. Images range from biophysical studies of micromanipulated material to transcendental renditions of celestial events using antibiotics as an artistic medium. The line between art and science, if there ever was one in the first place, is made indistinct on this page, but the authors haven't forgotten the fundamentally scientific nature of their technique. They have provided a thorough tutorial on photo microscopy of materials, and invite requests for specific images or custom microscopy for scientific or other purposes |
