Spaced Invader

Spaced Invader

Our microscopists stumbled across this unusual doodle while examining a rather old memory integrated circuit made in East Germany during the Cold War. Perhaps it represents some new technology that was being designed by the Soviet-Bloc countries, or symbolizes German contact with aliens from another planet. In any event, this artwork demonstrates the humor displayed by East German chip designers.

Caution, don't confuse this image with the wireframe Space Invader from the 1980s-era video arcade game that was found on the Digital VAX microprocessor chips.
